Potluck w. Foster Pinkney & the Poor People’s Campaign

 Saturday, July 18, 2015

A recent graduate of the Union Theological Seminary in New York City, Foster is a scholar and activist dedicated to building genuine community and working toward social justice. He joined us from his parents’ home in Ohio, projected via Google Hangouts onto a sheet in one of the big common spaces at the Dreamship, and spoke about his travels over the last year to Ferguson, Missouri and Selma, Alabama and his ongoing work as part of the new national effort to revive Dr. King’s Poor People’s Campaign.¬† The event was family-friendly, with free childcare, and was a collaborative effort between the Greater Portland Community Land Trust, the Southern Maine Workers Center and the Portland Racial Justice Congress.
